Long term is much harder to do when you have spread yourself thin. Mortgage, a car, the lifestyle, everything takes away from pursuing a long term goal. If you want to travel far, you have to travel light. The baggage you have slows you down, holds you back. Focus on what you have instead of what others have. Focus and delay gratification, patience and work for what you really want. On gratification, dig deep and find out what truly drives you, what motivates you, what you want at the end of your life. Are you doing that thing? , what is holding you back from pursuing it. There might be an indirect path to that ultimate goal. It is like solving for the Hanoi’s tower problem. You have to reset to zero to build it right. But always keep your integrity, remain persistent and kind, give even when you have very little. Psychologically giving develops into an abundant mindset, makes you more accepting. Holding back leads to fear, fear of loss, fear of missing out. Getting comfortable with whatever you have and self confidence in your ability to handle whatever comes your way is the key. Get comfortable with the unknown, the uncertain as you plan long term. Deal with the small things as they show up. Excellent write up.
